Doris Fellows Obituary

Doris Price Fellows (nee Doris Helen Price) died peacefully with family by her side on July 7, 2023. Doris was nearly 100 years old, the last surviving child of Violet Hallett Price and Raymond Price of Mountain Home, PA. Doris, Mom, Mother, Dobbie, Dibby Dob, Gram, and Grandma Duck, is survived by her three daughters, Darcy Fellows Todia, Judith Fellows Froehlich, and Lucy Llwellyn Fellows; three grandchildren, Jaime Todia Wooten (Matt), Melissa Froehlich Flood (Brenden), and Rhys Todia (Jodie); and six great grandchildren, Madeline Wooten, Mackenzie Wooten, Corrigan Flood, Bastian Flood, Jack Todia, and Kylee Todia; and dozens of nephews, nieces and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Jane Townsend Price, Raymond Price, Jr., and Richard Llwellyn Price.

Doris lived most of her life in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania and upstate NY, raising her family in Syracuse and Fayetteville, NY. In her later years, she moved to Milford, Ohio, to be closer to family. She was well looked after by the amazing and kind team at SEM Haven for the later years of her life, where she was always at the head of the table and in the lead on all dance numbers.

In her youth, she attended Barrett Township Public Schools and graduated in the class of 1944 from Syracuse University where she was a fine arts major, cheerleader, member of the Tri Delta sorority, and voted Junior Beauty of 1943. Doris married Driscoll Harry Fellows, whom she met in college, on March 13, 1945, in Cresco, PA. In later years, she was an active alum and one of the founding members of Orange Plus, an organization supporting women's athletics at Syracuse, where she was inducted into the Orange Plus Hall of Fame in 1984.
Doris loved painting, drawing and anything artistic, including making artwork from shells from one of her favorite vacation spots, Sanibel Island. An active member of the Barrett Township Historical Society in her retirement, which brought her back home to the Poconos, Doris designed the Barrett Township Historical Society logo in 1995.

Doris had a zest for life that was unmatched. She never sat down-was always on the move, up for anything and was often taking care of others. She was fearless, brave, and athletic, walking and dancing unaided until a few weeks before her passing. Doris used to joke that she grew up in a garage, which explained her love of driving to visit friends or family. Doris always saw the positive in every situation and every person. She never had a down day and was a perpetual ray of sunshine.
A graveside celebration of her life will be held at the Moravian High Acres Cemetery in Canadensis, PA, on what would have been her 100th birthday, August 25, 2023 at 4:00p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Barrett Township Historical Society, PO Box 358, Mountain Home, PA 18342.
