2017 Pocono Records Readers Choice Nominations

IF YOU GO: A Bug’s-eye View of Twilight
WHEN: 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16
WHERE: Skywood Park off Route 191 North, Paradise Valley
COST: Free, but registration is required and limited.
DETAILS: Suitable for elementary-age children, who must be accompanied by parent or guardian. Families are welcome to bring a picnic supper at 5:30 and enjoy views over the Delaware River watershed to Delaware Water Gap. This conserved land protects the pure, safe waters of Cranberry and Paradise creeks.

IF YOU GO
Join hike leader Carol Hillestad for this challenging hike of about 5 miles. A shorter option will be offered (see below).

WHEN: 10 a.m. Saturday, September 23, 2017

WHERE: Meet at Paradise-Price Preserve, Henry’s Crossing Road. Take Route 191 in Paradise Valley to Cranberry Creek Road. From Cranberry Creek Road, take Henry’s Crossing Road. When you cross the railroad tracks, the trailhead is on your right. If you wish, bring a snack to enjoy at the falls.

SHORTER HIKE OPTION: An easy, 1-mile round-trip walk is planned for 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017, at this preserve. No view of the falls, but we will see a large glacial split rock and enjoy a leisurely walk in the early fall woods.

COST: Free; registration is required.

Dr Jeff Fox, Esteemed Geologist, will lead a unique geological tour of Buck Hill Trails including the Upper & Lower Falls. Families welcome. Meet up at 9:30, Lower Pool Parking Lot.

Concert- Lindsay Lou & The Flatbellys, 8pm, Tennis Tea

SUNDAY AFTERNOON, AUGUST 20th,
Dr. Jeff Fox - Climate Change Presentation, 5:30 Cocktails, 6pm Presentation, Tennis Tea

This was originally scheduled for July 26, 2017 at 8am.  At the meeting, the Supervisors chose to table the discussion and reconvene at the above date and time.  Since the initial meeting was advertised and the new meeting announced publicly on 7/26/17, this upcoming "Special Meeting" will not be advertised.

Barrett Scarecrow 5K Race 2017

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Jay Perrine has formally removed himself from the upcoming Barrett Township Supervisor election in November.  The Republican party is interviewing three potential candidates in order to appoint a replacement for Perrine's spot:

  • Rick Scrudato
  • Michelle Sisak
  • Ralph Megliola

Update 8/15/17: 
Michelle Sisak has been nominated by the Republican Party to replace Perrine.
