Paul Nauman

Paul E. "Pop" Nauman, 95, a lifetime resident of the Cresco area, died Monday afternoon, September 11, 2023, at St. Luke's Hospital - Monroe campus in Bartonsville. He was the husband of the late Gloria L. (Masker) Nauman with whom he shared 66 years of marriage at the time of her death on May 28, 2014.

Born on July 10, 1928 at home in Cresco, he was a son of the late Stanley and Viola (Bender) Nauman.
He was a graduate of Barrett Township High School and in early years worked for G.H. Litts and C.W. Good. Paul owned and operated the family business, S.R. Nauman and Sons Excavating Company for many years. He also operated a repair garage in Mountainhome and the boating concession stand at Promised Land State Park; worked in the Pocono Mountain School District Transportation Department; and was proud of the sawmill he built and operated on his property.
He was a member of the Pocono Lodge #780 F&AM since 1949, a long-time member of the Keokee Chapel United Methodist Church; a member of Forest Fire Crew #34 for over sixty years where he also served as warden, and a member of the Barrett Township Historical Society. He also served on the East Stroudsburg South Jointure School Board for twenty-two years and on the Price Township Planning Commission.
Paul was dedicated to public life, saving forestry and streams, and had a love of nature, church and family.
Surviving are a son, L. James Nauman and wife Carol of Cresco; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, George B. Nauman of Florida and Frank A. Nauman of Delaware; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Paul "Brud" E. Nauman and Stanley H. Nauman; a daughter, Margaret Ann Nauman; a sister, E. Jean Savage; and two brothers, John R. Nauman and Charles M. Nauman.
There will be viewing hours on Friday, September 22nd, from 2:00 to 4:00PM and 6:00 to 8:00PM at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg. The funeral service will begin at 11:00AM on Saturday, September 23rd, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Keokee Chapel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances may be made to Forest Fire Crew #34 or Keokee Chapel United Methodist Church.
