Skytop Inn & Lodge (1 Skytop Drive, Skytop)
On August 13, the Skytop Inn, including its Tap Room and Library Lounge, was cited for a combined total of 23 violations. Inspectors reported that the person in charge did not demonstrate adequate knowledge of food safety practices. Violations included improper storage of raw meats, thawing reduced oxygen packaged tuna without reintroducing oxygen, and storing ice cream scoops in containers with unregulated water temperatures. The dishwasher's sanitizer levels were also found to be inadequate.
Additional concerns included food residue buildup on kitchen equipment, grease buildup on the cookline, and missing soap and paper towels at several handwashing stations. Inspectors also observed mold-like substances in the ice machine and noted the presence of 15-25 small flying insects around the bar area, along with poor sanitation in both the kitchen and bar areas.
Congregation Ohr Menachem (180 Glenmere Road, Canadensis)
Congregation Ohr Menachem was also inspected on August 13 and found to have 14 violations. Similar to the Skytop Inn, the person in charge did not demonstrate sufficient knowledge of food safety protocols. Violations included the improper storage of refrigerated juice, uncovered prepared foods in the walk-in cooler, and spoiled cucumbers.
The inspection also noted cleanliness issues, such as old food residue on kitchen utensils and equipment, as well as a significant fruit fly infestation with 50-100 flies near the kitchen area. Structural concerns were identified, including broken floor drains and a clogged toilet in the kitchen bathroom, adding to the overall unsanitary conditions.
Both establishments have been instructed to rectify the violations immediately to comply with health code regulations and ensure the safety of their patrons.
