Shirley was born in Mount Pocono on June 17, 1936, a daughter of the late David and Harriet (Dotterer) Nauman. Throughout her working career, she worked at Weiler Brush Co. in Cresco, Callies Candy Kitchen in Mountainhome, Bill Grant's Bakery in East Stroudsburg, and in many of the local resorts.
She was an active member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, Mount Pocono - all honor, glory and worship goes to Jesus. Shirley enjoyed being an active member of the community where she was a Cub Scout Leader, member of the Barret Senior Club, 50-year member of the Eastern Star, and one of the founders of the Pocono Mountain Ecumenical Food Pantry.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents was her son, Robert K. Kistler, brother, Russell Nauman and her sister, Charlotte Miller.
Surviving in addition to her husband Kenneth Kistler of Cresco, is her son, Brian Kistler and his fiancée Nancy Mora of Teaneck, New Jersey; daughter, Rev. Joan Kistler and her spouse, Tabatha Gartner of Costa Rica; grandson, Joshua Kistler and his wife, Laura; brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard and Helen Kistler of Dallas, Texas; Barry and Debbie Kistler of Williamsport, Maryland, and many nieces and nephews.
Pastor Peter Richert will conduct a funeral service on Thursday June 5, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 657 Belmont Ave, Mount Pocono PA 18344. A viewing will be held from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. in the church. Interment will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery, 406 Upper Swiftwater Road, Swiftwater PA 18370.
