Obituary: Dawn Marie Ross

Cresco, PA
Dawn Marie Ross, 87, of Cresco, died February 9, 2022 at her home. She was the loving wife of Jefferson Ross, with whom she shared 69 years of marriage.

Born in East Stroudsburg, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Helen (Marvin) Dippre.

Dawn was a graduate of Stroudsburg High School. After graduation, she began her most important career as a doting mother. She took immense pride in teaching her 6 children and helping them grow into successful adults. Because of her love for teaching and caring for children, many of her own children and grandchildren went on to pursue careers in education. In 1972, she joined her husband Jeff as a co-owner of the family business, Ross & Ross Nursery. Until her retirement, she helped run all aspects of the business. She will be remembered by her customers for her warm smile and friendly demeanor.

For many years, Dawn was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She loved games and puzzles and never turned down a chance to win at Chinese checkers. She was a lover of animals: especially birds. But perhaps her biggest love was babies. She loved to hold them and play with them, and when a baby was in her presence, her smile lit up the room.

Dawn possessed immense love and loyalty to her family. She was a beloved wife, Mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be missed tremendously. There aren't words that can portray how deep our love is for her, and we will carry our memories of her with us forever.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Linda Besecker and her husband, Bill of Paradise Valley; Rebecca Woodworth and her husband, Allan of Trinidad, California; Peggy Fishler and her husband, Charles of Gurdon, Arkansas; Wayne Ross and his wife, Michelle of Paradise Valley; and Randall Ross and his wife, Jocelyn of Paradise Valley; sisters, Joanne Barthold and her husband, Kenneth; and Nancy Keiper; beloved grandchildren; Amy (Edwards) Waltermyer; Ryan Edwards; James Woodworth; Annie Woodworth; Allison (Fishler) Stricklen; Erica (Fishler) Concepcion; Abigail Ross; Emily Ross; Olivia Ross; Vivian Ross; Jeff Ross; and eight great-grandchildren. Dawn was preceded in death by her son, Jefferson F. Ross.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Private cremation has been entrusted to Bolock Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
