PennDOT Wraps Up 2022 Construction Season in East Central PA
Some of the notable projects completed in 2022 include:
- Replacement of the Route 447 bridge over Goose Pond Run in Barrett Township, Monroe County, $1.2 million;
Benjamin Stitt, 33, of Cresco charged with attempted homicide for shooting vehicle
A Cresco man has been charged with attempted homicide following a shooting in Price Township on Friday evening.
Pennsylvania State Police confirmed troopers from their Stroudsburg station responded to reports of a shooting at Clarks Road near the intersection of Creek Road in Price Township, Monroe County at approximately 5:18 p.m. on Dec. 2. According to one victim from Staten Island, his vehicle was shot at multiple times by an unknown actor.

THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF BARRETT TOWNSHIP, pursuant to Section 3202 of the Second Class Township, hereby gives public notice that the proposed budget for Barrett Township for fiscal year 2023 is available for public inspection at the Barrett Township Municipal Building, 993 Route 390, Cresco, Pennsylvania 18326, during regular business hours. If there are no changes to the proposed budget, the Board intends to adopt the proposed budget at the regular meeting on December 14, 2022, at 5:30 p.m.
Bring your letters to Santa
The Rotary Club Christmas celebration, now in its fifth year, will feature a tree lighting, carol singing, and a special visit from the North Pole's most famous resident, who will arrive on the back of one of Barrett Township Volunteer Fire Company's firetrucks.
Each child will receive a bag of holiday treats and Santa will be available for safely distanced photos.
Don’t forget bring your letters to Santa (volunteers say they will make sure they get delivered directly to Saint Nick and be sure to include your return address in case he writes back!).

Former pastor sentenced after plea on attempted indecent assault

MOUNTAINHOME, Pa. — While it doesn't look like it now, the former Barrett Elementary Center near Mountainhome will soon be the center hub for the community.
Barrett Township officials closed on the property a few days ago. The goal is to turn it into the Barrett Administrative and Recreation Complex.

Joseph Calistro Obituary
Joseph "Joe" A. Calistro, Jr., 66, of Cresco, passed away in his home on Friday, November 11, 2022. Born in New York, New York he was the son of the late Joseph and Gertrude (Pearcy) Calistro. Joe was the beloved husband of the late Larissa (Ptashynsky) Calistro.
Anna Young Obituary
Anna Victoria Young, 82, of Cresco, died peacefully in her daughter's home in Belvidere, New Jersey on Friday, November 4, 2022.
Born in Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late John and Anita (Garcia) Berrios and loving wife of the late Joseph (Rusty) Young.
Anna will be lovingly remembered by her children, Joseph Young and his wife Cathy, Debra Stensrud and her husband John, Bruce Young and Walter Young and his wife Jenny and grandchildren Ryan, Michael, Brandi, Audrey, Sam, and Jack; sisters, Elsie Gedman and Sonia Hunter along with many nieces and nephews.
There will be a private gathering with immediate family.
Thank you to all that loved and prayed for Anna.
