A 20-year-old Monroe County man was killed Sunday afternoon in the parking lot shootout that sent shocked shoppers scrambling outside Target in the Lower Nazareth Commons shopping center.

Elijah Johnathan Johnson, of the Canadensis area of Barrett Township, died of multiple gunshot wounds, and Northampton County Coroner Zach Lysek ruled his death a homicide.

PUBLIC NOTICE PUBLIC HEARING INTENTION TO ENACT PROPOSED ORDINANCE TAKE NOTICE that the Board of Supervisors of Barrett Township will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at 8:30 a.m., at the Barrett Township Municipal Building, 993 Route 390, Cresco, Pennsylvania 18326. As summarized below, the proposed ordinance would amend Articles 8 and 9 of the Zoning Ordinance (Ordinance 175), as previously amended. At the time of the public hearing, the Supervisors will listen to comments by members of the public concerning the proposed ordinance. If substantial amendments are not offered to the draft of the proposed ordinance, the Supervisors intend to consider enactment of the proposed ordinance immediately after the public hearing. The proposed ordinance is entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWNSHIP OF BARRETT, MONROE COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA, AMENDING ARTICLES 8 AND 9 OF THE BARRETT TOWNSHIP ZONING ORDINANCE (ORDINANCE 175). The following is a brief summary of all of the provisions of the proposed ordinance: Section 1 provides the legal authority and legislative intent relating to the ordinance. Section 2 amends Article 8 (Light Industrial District LI) by clarifying that "single family detached dwellings" are permitting uses in that district, and by establishing minimum yard setbacks for single family detached dwellings in that district. The existing area and dimensional regulations continue to apply to all other uses within the Light Industrial District. Section 3 amends Article 9 (Industrial District I) by clarifying that "single family detached dwellings" are permitting uses in that district, and by establishing minimum yard setbacks for single family detached dwellings in that district. The existing area and dimensional regulations continue to apply to all other uses within the Industrial District. Section 4 and Section 5, respectively, contain severability and repealer provisions.
