Obituary: Joseph Ferraro
Joseph John Ferraro, 90, of Shrewsbury, New Jersey and formerly of Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania passed on Monday, January 3, 2022 in Holmdel, New Jersey. He was the loving husband of the late Patricia (Clinchot) Ferraro, who passed away in 2010.

During 2022, the Barrett Township Board of Supervisors will convene public meetings at the Barrett Township Municipal Building, 993 Route 390, Cresco, Pennsylvania 18326, according to the following schedule: Regular meetings will be held on the second Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. and on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 8 a.m., unless otherwise noted (Jan. 12, Jan. 26, Feb. 9, Feb. 23, March 9, March 23, April 13, April 27, May 11, May 25, June 8, June 22, July 13, July 27, Aug. 10, Aug. 24, Sept. 14, Sept. 28, Oct. 12, Oct. 26, Nov. 9, Nov. 23, Dec. 14, and Dec. 28). Work session meetings will be held on the third Wednesday of each month at 8 a.m., unless otherwise noted (Jan. 19, Feb. 16, March 16, April 20, May 18, June 15, July 20, Aug. 17, Sept. 21, Oct.19, Nov. 16, Dec. 21). PUBLIC NOTICE REORGANIZATION MEETING TAKE NOTICE that the Barrett Township Planning Commission will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 5:30 p.m., at the Barrett Township Municipal Building, 993 Route 390, Cresco, Pennsylvania 18326. The purpose of the meeting is to elect its officers and to make and alter the rules and regulations to govern its procedures in accordance with Section 207 of the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code (53 P.S. § 10207). Immediately after the organization meeting, the Planning Commission will hold its regular monthly meeting to consider any and all business of the Planning Commission. Obituary - Pastor Barry Whitmer
MOUNTAINHOME - Pastor Barry L. Whitmer, 76, of Mountainhome, died Wednesday afternoon, December 22, 2021, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Pocono in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Darlene J. (Dewitsky) Whitmer with whom he shared 53 years of marriage.

Maybe it’s the low, end-of-year light, but on the trail to Mount Wismer, I seem to feel forest life settling down all around me. Black bears denning up, sows soon to birth young. White-tailed deer snuffling the leaf litter for acorns and beechnuts. Coyote and foxes, fishers and otters, rabbits, mice, and voles — do they smell snow coming? The cold-blooded creatures are still.
The sense of connectedness to the natural world is strong here. It’s quiet. The only sounds are the crunch of boots, rustle of leaves, and sighing breezes among bare branches.

Irving Berlin fans can enjoy a 90-minute cabaret based on his works this month at two venues in the Poconos.
Four vocalists will perform “A White Christmas Cabaret” twice at the Lodge at Mountain Springs Lake and once at the Tennis Tea at Buck Hill Falls.
Skytop Hotel: 2021 Top 25 Historic Hotels of America Most Magnificent Gingerbread Displays

“The gingerbread hotel at Skytop Lodge in Skytop, Pennsylvania, measures 19 ft. wide by 12 ft. deep and reaches a height of 11 ft. from its base. Production on the gingerbread hotel began in early August and the lodge staff set to work assembling the structure the week of Halloween. Once the frame was erected, the entire bakery team labored to attach the gingerbread and then the candy decorations.”
