GUILTY PLEA IN CHILD DEATH CASE

Stroudsburg - On Monday, August 1, 2022, Amanda M. Green, one of several persons charged in connection with the death of two month old infant R.B. who was killed on March 19, 2021, in Canadensis,, entered a plea of guilty to several charges in connection with the death.

Amanda M. Green, the mother of the victim, R.B., pled guilty on Monday afternoon August 1, 2022 to Endangering the Welfare of Children, a felony of the first degree, Involuntary Manslaughter, a felony of the second degree, and Possession with Intent to Deliver Heroin, an ungraded felony.  The baby died as the result of blunt force trauma to the head which fractured her skull.

Sentencing will occur at a later date, after the resolution of her co-defendant’s case. Lamont Bacchus, the father of the infant. Bacchus has been charged with an open count of Homicide. This means he faces charges of First and Third Degree Murder. The death Penalty is also being sought. Bacchus is presumed to be not guilty.

According to Michael Mancuso, the First Assistant District Attorney handling the case, Green engaged in conduct which clearly endangered the life of the infant. “Green violated her duty to protect her child from harm” said Mancuso. Green admitted to knowingly endangering her daughter, R.B., two months of age and acting in a grossly negligent manner by being under the influence of illegal drugs and leaving the infant alone in the care of Bacchus for hours despite having injected Bacchus with illegal drugs, including heroin, and knowing that Bacchus was behaving violently that evening. Green’s actions and failure to protect the child were definitely a causative factor in resulting in her death. The maximum possible sentence for the charges to which Green entered her guilty plea is incarceration for 45 years and/or a $300,000.00 fine.

First Assistant District Attorney Michael Mancuso was assisted by District Attorney Matthew Bernal in the prosecution of Green.  Charges were filed by Detectives Ryan Venneman and Erica Burke of the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department.  Updates will follow.
