Free Seminars provided by United Way (2019-2020)

I am writing to let you know about two exciting but quite needed resources that Pocono Mountains United Way is offering in Monroe County. One is a series of free legal information seminars and the other is Getting Ahead.

I have attached two flyers with details regarding both programs for your attention.

The free legal information seminars are provided in partnership with Monroe County Bar Association. The seminars are held monthly and cover a wide range of legal topics. We do ask interested participants to register, which they could do by calling me at 570-517-3956 or emailing me at

We are also enrolling for a new cohort of Getting Ahead. Getting Ahead is a 20 session workshop that helps individuals experiencing financial instability as they learn about how a lack of resources impacts them and their communities. There is no cost to participants and all workshop materials are provided by United Way.

Participants are paid a $20 stipend per session, earning approximately $400 for their workshop participation which helps increase their financial resource. Free childcare and dinner are also provided for participants.

Thank you for your support in disseminating this information. I’m available at the contact information below, and quite happy to answer any questions you may have.

Best regards,
Misozi Houston
